The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council condemned the “ongoing terrorist attacks” by groups aligned with the Islamic Republic in Iraq against Saudi Arabia. Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi said in a statement that the violence is “a dangerous escalation and an explicit violation of the sovereignty of the monarchy,” adding that it directly threatens the security and stability of the country as well as the security and peace of the region.

He added that the GCC member countries stand alongside Saudi Arabia and fully support the decisions that country makes to protect its “security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.”

Al Budaiwi emphasized that the continuation of these terrorist attacks is a direct threat to peace and regional security and undermines international efforts to reduce tensions and strengthen security and stability.
