Sadegh Baghdeli, a jurist and political activist, said that the restriction of the Islamic Republic’s air routes and the increasing importance of Iraq’s land borders mean that relying more on land routes raises the cost of transportation and reduces the possibility of rapid transfer—an issue that affects the logistics network, weapons supply, and the Islamic Republic’s ability to circumvent sanctions.

He added that increased pressure on Iraq’s financial network will tighten the ring of economic and logistical pressure on the Islamic Republic, and over time will limit the routes available to the government and make them more costly.
