Hamidreza Hajibabaee, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, said to Mehr News Agency on Monday, 30 Shahrivar: “The Strait of Hormuz today is a display of power by the Islamic Republic and a face-off with the United States. With all its might, and through countries in the region, this country is seeking to weaken our position in the Strait of Hormuz.”

He added: “Basically, we cannot reach an agreement with the United States, because neither it can make an agreement with us, nor can we make an agreement with it.”

Hajibabaee also said: “We must target the United States’ economic strongholds in the region, and if we do that, we will have the upper hand.”
