کامیار بهرنگ, an editor at Iran International, said Masoud Pezeshkian has no decision-making authority in cases such as nuclear negotiations and the war, and for this reason it is unlikely that his trip to the United Nations General Assembly would achieve anything toward reducing international pressures on the Islamic Republic.
Bahrنگ added that even if Pezeshkian holds meetings on the sidelines of the General Assembly, according to him, without the necessary authority he cannot obtain any concessions in negotiations. He also said that if this trip yields no results, the Islamic Republic will try to portray it in the domestic media as a political success.
