The New York Times, citing U.S. government officials, reported that U.S. President Donald Trump has, for now, refrained from carrying out these strikes after ordering the Pentagon to prepare for airstrikes against the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen.

According to the report, after a direct request from Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Crown Prince, on Thursday, Trump asked the Pentagon to get ready to attack the Houthis.

The New York Times reported that military commanders approved the list of targets and that U.S. forces began loading bombs onto the fighter jets selected for the operation.

However, until Sunday, Trump pulled back from carrying out the strikes or at least postponed them.

According to the report, most members of Trump’s inner circle have opposed the war with the opening of another front.
