Pete Hegseth, the U.S. defense secretary, on Thursday, 14 Aban, in a video recorded in front of the Pentagon building, described the war with Iran as a “brave and historic” move and said that regardless of people’s views about this war, its goal is to prevent the Islamic Republic from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Hegseth emphasized that the Donald Trump administration is serious about preventing the Islamic Republic from obtaining nuclear weapons and will carry out the necessary actions to achieve this goal. He also called for the approval by Congress of a budget package of at least $350 billion to strengthen America’s military capabilities, and said the Department of Defense must have sufficient resources to counter global threats.

In another part of this video, in response to criticisms and efforts to impeach him, Hegseth said he will not step back from his positions. These remarks came after the Republicans’ failure in the midterm elections for the Congress—an election in which the war with Iran was one of the important issues.
