Associated Press, Thursday, 14 Aban, citing newly released documents from a U.S. federal court, reported that the administration of Donald Trump, despite the ongoing war with the Islamic Republic, conducted secret negotiations with Tehran to deport Iranian nationals from the United States. These documents show that officials in both countries were in contact at least through mid-October regarding the preparation of travel documents and possible deportation routes.
According to the Associated Press, the Iranian American Legal Defense Fund said that at least 12 Iranians detained were informed about the possibility of deportation to Iran via Pakistan. Some of them said the deportations could begin as early as Sunday, 17 Aban. Judge Anna Reyes, with a warning about the dangers of returning these individuals to Iran, ordered the U.S. government to inform the court in advance of its deportation plans.
The case also includes an allegation that Iranian refugees’ confidential information was transferred to the Islamic Republic by U.S. immigration authorities—an allegation that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has rejected. Based on earlier documents, the two countries cooperated in the years 2025 and 2026 to return more than 100 Iranians using three flights.
