Mansheh Amir, a Middle East affairs expert, said that Eizenkot, in order to form an Israeli government, needs the support of Arab parties, but the coalition parties’ opposition to cooperating with them has made it difficult to reach a majority of 61 seats.
Amir added that Netanyahu hopes that Eizenkot will fail in forming the cabinet so that he himself can then get the opportunity to form a government. He also said that Israel cannot start a new war against the Islamic Republic without the support of the United States, and that under current conditions, he assesses the likelihood of such an attack as low.
