🔶 Kallas’ warning about oil pollution by Russia’s shadow fleet

Kaja Kallas, the EU’s foreign policy chief, has warned about the risk of an oil catastrophe on Europe’s coasts caused by Russia’s shadow fleet.

In an interview with newspapers covered by Germany’s “Editorial Network,” she called the ships belonging to Russia’s shadow fleet environmental “time bombs” that, in most cases, are worn out, are not being properly maintained, and are also not insured well enough.

Kallas added that, beyond all this, Russia’s shadow fleet has been used to finance Moscow’s war against Kyiv and has also been the source of Russia’s hybrid attacks carried out in the past.

On the other hand, Robin Wagener (Wagener), a foreign policy expert in Germany’s Greens, called on the German government to take quick action. In an interview with Germany’s national radio station (Deutschlandfunk), he said that rusty, worn-out ships of Russia’s fleet still continue to sail easily in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.

This German politician added that the European Union must take more measures and do more to ensure its own security and protection. He added that it is not possible to just rely on words and that action must be taken, because only “action and deeds will have an impact on Russia.”
