Israel’s main left-wing party endorses Eisenkot to form government

During the second day of presidential consultations with Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem, the Democrats, Israel's primary left-wing party led by former deputy military chief of staff Yair Golan—officially endorsed Gadi Eisenkot to form the next government.

Members of the Knesset for the Democrats said "We recommended Gadi Eisenkot for prime minister…"

Eisenkot has now positioned himself as the frontrunner for the mandate, particularly after a religious party traditionally aligned with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu chose not to recommend Netanyahu.
