Iran’s Statistics Center says the prices of food items rose by 128.6% in Mordad compared with Mordad last year.

Among food items, the highest inflation rate is for cooking oil, which saw a more than 258% increase in price; in other words, the price of cooking oil has more than tripled over the past year.

Milk, cheese, and eggs also saw price growth of nearly 164%, and the prices of different types of meat jumped between 141% and 145%.

The price of almost all foodstuffs has more than doubled over the past year, and of course, among other goods, the prices of water, electricity, and fuel—along with vehicles and transportation costs—also experienced growth of more than 100%.
