🔶 Iran’s Statistical Center: Point-to-point inflation reached about 88%

Iran’s Statistical Center, in its latest report, has announced the annual inflation rate in Tir of this year as 66% and the point-to-point inflation rate in the same period as 87.9%, meaning that households, on average, paid nearly 88% more to buy a basket of identical goods compared to Tir of last year.

In a report that Iran’s Statistical Center published on Wednesday, 7 Mordad, the annual inflation rate from Tir of last year to the end of Tir of this year was also announced as 66%. Previously, the Central Bank had reported this rate as 62%.

A review of monthly inflation shows that prices of the food, beverages, and tobacco group increased by 2.5% in Tir of this year, and the non-food goods and services group rose by 3.6%.

In addition, the annual inflation rate across different income quintiles ranged from 63.9% in the tenth decile to 73.5% in the second decile. Therefore, the inflation gap between the different deciles in Tir reached 9.6 percentage points, which indicates an increase of 1.2 percentage points compared to the previous month.
