🔺Houthis’ $51 Billion Request to Saudi Arabia to End the War
▪ The Wall Street Journal reported that Yemen’s Houthis, a group supported by the Islamic Republic, have demanded $51 billion and recognition as rulers of Yemen in negotiations with Saudi Arabia to halt hostilities.
▪ According to the newspaper, Riyadh, after Houthi attacks on Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea and taking control of areas overlooking the strategic Bab al-Mandeb Strait, contacted the group to discuss the conditions for stopping the conflict. Informed sources said the Houthis have presented this amount as compensation for years of attacks by Saudi Arabia and the blockade of Yemen.
▪ The Saudi government and Houthi leaders have not responded to the newspaper’s request for comment.
