🔻Herzog awards “courage” to four Israelis who prevented a Flydubai plane from crashing

Isaac Herzog, the President of Israel, says he intends to award a “Courage Award” to four Israeli citizens who helped restrain the co-pilot of an Emirates Flydubai aircraft and prevented the plane from crashing.

In a statement, Herzog said: “You put your lives at risk to save others and prevented a major catastrophe. Today, the entire world saw the beautiful and courageous face of Israeli society.”

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it was still too early to comment on the cause of why one pilot stabbed another, injuring him with a knife, and tried to take control of the Dubai flight to Tel Aviv.

Yesterday, an Emirates plane flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv suddenly deviated from its flight path and landed in Saudi Arabia. It later emerged that the pilot of the aircraft had been stabbed during the flight.
