⚡U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz announced on Thursday, 9 Mehr that after Russia and China objected to the continuation of the work of the panel of experts monitoring the sanctions of the Islamic Republic, the United States will establish an independent panel to oversee the implementation of these sanctions and asked other countries to join the initiative.

Mr. Waltz said that Russia and China vetoed the continuation of the work of the panel of experts that had been overseeing the implementation of sanctions that had been returned against the Islamic Republic. This is while the two countries had previously voted in favor of six Security Council resolutions concerning the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.

The U.S. ambassador said: “Nevertheless, we will form our own panel,” and added that the United States is inviting other countries to join this effort to ensure that the Islamic Republic “will never be able to obtain nuclear weapons.”

The U.S.-proposed resolution to extend the experts’ panel’s one-year mandate received 11 yes votes on 26 Shahrivar, but was not approved due to negative votes by Russia and China. The two countries reject the legal validity of the return of United Nations sanctions against the Iranian regime.
