🔶 Germany’s chancellor entered Ukraine on an unexpected visit
Friedrich Merz, Germany’s chancellor, arrived in Ukraine on an unexpected trip to show solidarity and promised further specific assistance—especially intercepting drones and long-range weapons—for this country’s defense against Russia’s military aggression.
As the leader of Germany’s Christian Democratic Party arrived in Kyiv by special train, he said: «If Russia is not stopped, its war machine will sooner or later be set in motion against us.»
Katrina Reiche, Germany’s minister of economics, and ten executives from companies active in the defense industries and energy are accompanying Merz on this trip.
According to government circles, Merz intends to reassure Ukraine’s armed forces in Kyiv that thousands of intercepting drones will be delivered to them soon. Using these drones, it is possible to counter Russian combat drones equipped with jet engines, which are extremely dangerous due to their very high speed.
