Chris Wright, the U.S. Secretary of Energy, said in an interview with CBS that energy supply from the Strait of Hormuz has increased in recent months and in the past weeks, and that he expects that with increased supply and reduced demand, gasoline and diesel prices will fall over the next four weeks.
The U.S. energy secretary added that there is no guarantee in the fighting. The United States is working to increase the supply of gasoline and diesel, but Iran’s attacks on ships and the possibility of escalation could affect the flow of energy and prices.
Chris Wright emphasized that the Trump administration is examining all avenues to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and, at the same time, is preparing for military scenarios. He said that a nuclear Iran would be a long-term threat to energy prices.
The U.S. energy secretary also said: “Donald Trump is pursuing both the diplomatic track and military pressure at the same time, and I will not comment on the administration’s next steps regarding Iran.”
