🔻Amid speculation about possible new U.S. attacks on Iran, Friedrich Merz, Germany’s chancellor, called for a diplomatic settlement of the war.
According to German news agency DPA, he said on Friday at the end of his trip to South Korea: “I can only ask all the parties involved to accept that this dispute has no military solution.”
Merz added that Germany is coordinating and increasing diplomatic efforts through different channels to end the war as quickly as possible.
The German chancellor also said that his country is economically interested in ending the war quickly and that the rise in energy prices so far has imposed costs of more than 100 billion euros on Europe.
