🔶 Dispute over the Farford base incident; Iran summoned the UK ambassador

According to an announcement by Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alireza Yousofi, assistant to the minister and director-general for Western Europe at the ministry, on Tuesday, 21 Mehr (13 October), during a meeting with Hugo Shorter, the United Kingdom’s ambassador, conveyed Tehran’s strong protest over what it described as “unfounded allegations” and a “non-responsible and destructive approach” by London.

In the meeting, Yousofi rejected the allegations made by the British government and said, “The officials of this country cannot evade accountability for Iran’s participation in military attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran, and for hosting groups and individuals whom Tehran considers to be terrorist, by raising charges against Iran.”

On Monday, Andy Burnham, the United Kingdom’s prime minister, said in the country’s parliament that the proposal concerning the Farford base was “almost certainly” guided by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. He warned that London would not tolerate such threats on its soil and spoke about the possibility of additional sanctions and targeting networks and financial resources associated with Iran.
