🔺Detention of a 44-year-old man on charges of spying for the Islamic Republic in Cyprus

▪ London Police announced the arrest of an individual in Cyprus, accused of spying for the Islamic Republic of Iran from a British base.

▪ The individual’s identity is reported as “Rashad Sultanov,” 44 years old, a British-Azerbaijani citizen, and he is accused of collecting information from the Akrotiri airbase in Cyprus and providing it to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

▪ He, who is a taxi driver living in London, was arrested in Cyprus on Tir 26 and British police are pursuing his extradition.

▪ The Akrotiri base is Britain’s main air base for conducting operations in the Middle East, and in recent years British fighter jets have used this base for military missions against ISIS in Syria and Iraq and in Yemen.
