🔶 Cyberattack on Minnesota water centers; warning about Iranian hackers

Following a cyberattack on more than 30 water-supply systems in the U.S. state of Minnesota, officials announced on Thursday, July 30, that they are seeking to identify the source of these attacks.

The attacks came at the same time as warnings that hackers affiliated with the Islamic Republic have focused their attention on such systems.

Minnesota’s Information Technology Services Administration said that state officials have not yet succeeded in identifying the perpetrators of the attacks that occurred on Sunday and Monday, July 26 and 27.

So far, no report has been published indicating the direct impact of these cyberattacks on the day-to-day lives of residents. It has only been reported that one of these cities has asked citizens to save water for a few hours so that officials can determine the cause of the problem.

The U.S. Federal Police (FBI), which is handling the investigation of this case, has not publicly identified those responsible for the attacks so far, and a spokesperson for the agency also declined to comment on Thursday about its suspects.
