Ali Motahari, deputy chair of the tenth parliament, said while criticizing opponents of talks with the United States that Ali Larijani, during their most recent meeting, emphasized the need for negotiations even in wartime conditions and believed that talks during a war could produce better results.

Motahari, in an interview with ILNA news agency, said: “In my last meeting with Ali Larijani, he stated a sentence that showed he believes that even in wartime conditions, we should negotiate.”

He added: “From his point of view, negotiations during wartime can yield better results, and he himself followed this approach.”

The former deputy chair of the Islamic Republic parliament also criticized opponents of negotiations and said that those who reject negotiations altogether must explain what alternative approach they would propose.

Motahari emphasized that merely opposing others’ actions, without providing arguments and a solution, is not the right approach, and that those who oppose negotiations in general are in fact sacrificing the country’s interests and national interests.
