The Central Command of the US Army (CENTCOM) says its forces, during the latest round of Iran’s maritime blockade, have rerouted 70 commercial vessels since mid-July.

In a post on the X social media platform, CENTCOM also wrote that during the operation “they disabled three ships and seized two.”

According to the United States, “more than 20 warships, including the guided-missile destroyers USS John Finn and USS Ross, are supporting this blockade.”

CENTCOM’s update was released after Donald Trump, the US president, posted a map on the Truth Social social media platform in which he described the Strait of Hormuz as “the new territory of the United States,” and a day earlier he had told his supporters at a rally that he considers the strait to be “American territory.”
