🔶 Bahrain’s Formula 1 races will be held in Malaysia this year
The 16th Formula One car racing event will be held on Sunday, 12 Mehr (4 October), at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia under the title “Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.” Bahrain is the official host of the event and will cover a large part of the cost of organizing it.
After the attack by the United States and Israel on Iran and the Islamic Republic’s response, the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Formula One races that had been scheduled for April were canceled. With the crisis continuing and no outlook for the return of Formula One to the region this year, the organizers decided to move the Bahrain race to Malaysia.
Bahrain is among the highest-paying hosts for Formula One, and a complete cancellation of the race could have reduced millions of dollars in revenue from these events.
The initial season schedule included 24 races, but aside from Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the holding of Qatar’s race on 29 November and Abu Dhabi’s on 6 December has also faced uncertainty due to regional conditions. If these two races are canceled, the city of Imola in Italy could host a replacement event.
Malaysia’s Sepang circuit, due to the next race in Singapore on 11 October and the short distance between the two countries, has been a suitable option for a replacement race. The track, designed by German architect and race track designer Hermann Tilke, hosted Formula One from 1999 to 2017.
