🔻Axios reports, citing a U.S. official, that J.D. Vance, the U.S. vice president, in a letter to Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, emphasized that any negotiations to prevent U.S. military attacks are “necessitates discussion of the nuclear issue.”
As Axios writes, this letter was sent with the aim of assessing the possibility of resuming negotiations between Tehran and Washington, and it was Vance himself who put forward the proposal to send it. The outlet, citing a U.S. official, wrote that Donald Trump also welcomed this proposal.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported on the sending of this letter. The New York Times also reported that Vance’s letter reached Mohsen Rezaei last week via Qatari intermediaries. According to the newspaper, Vance proposed “direct talks” and announced his readiness to personally guide these negotiations.
However, on Wednesday, Donald Trump, in response to reporters, considered the contents of the letter as related to helping Iran obtain medical and pharmaceutical supplies.
