Axios, citing a U.S. official, reported that two members of the Islamic Republic delegation at the United Nations General Assembly were expelled from the United States after they did not carry out the U.S. State Department’s order to leave the country within the deadline.
The U.S. official said that on Monday, the U.S. State Department had notified the Islamic Republic’s representation at the UN that all members of the delegation must immediately leave U.S. soil, but these two diplomats remained in New York.
According to Axios, the Islamic Republic’s representation on Friday was informed again that Washington is aware of the continued presence of these two individuals in New York and that they must immediately leave the United States.
The official said that one of the diplomats left the United States on Friday night and the other left on Saturday morning.
He added: “Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, is serious. The other two members of the Islamic Republic delegation remained in New York long after the end of the General Assembly, and now they have been expelled from the country.”
