Abbas Araghchi, foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, told Al Jazeera that Tehran does not rule out any possibility regarding the start of a war and is prepared for all scenarios.

He added that the Islamic Republic has modernized its weapons, addressed weaknesses, tested new weapons, and that our forces are at the highest level of readiness.

Araghchi continued: “Tehran wants recognition of a new shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz, which has been agreed upon with Oman, and also wants other routes to be closed. Reopening the Strait of Hormuz on Tehran’s conditions paves the way for resuming negotiations with Washington.”

The foreign minister of the Islamic Republic said that Tehran wants a halt to the war and the end of fighting in all fronts, including Lebanon.

Araghchi added that mediators have presented proposals regarding the nuclear file, which Tehran is currently reviewing as part of the second phase. He emphasized that the Islamic Republic is a member of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and is committed to its obligations under this treaty.
