🔻 A national of India was killed as a result of gunfire at a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz
India says a cargo ship flying the flag of this country was targeted off the coasts of Oman, and as a result one of the ship’s Indian crew members was killed.
India’s Minister of Shipping said that during the attack on this oil tanker, 14 Indian sailors were on board. According to statements by Indian government officials, 13 crew members were rescued by Oman’s coast guard.
India is one of the world’s largest suppliers of manpower for the commercial shipping industry. Since the start of attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28, several Indian sailors have been killed in attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly condemned attacks on commercial vessels and called for guarantees of safe and unhindered passage in international waters.
