An hour after reports of an explosion were broadcast in part of Qeshm Island, U.S. media reported that the U.S. Army targeted points on Qeshm Island on Monday night in “limited strikes.”
The Wall Street Journal wrote: “U.S. officials said that the United States targeted Iran’s Qeshm Island on Monday. This new attack is the latest in a series of limited strikes by Washington against Iran that have been carried out secretly in recent weeks—at a time when Donald Trump, the U.S. president, was speaking about the possibility of reaching a diplomatic agreement.”
Fox News wrote that officials confirmed that after Iran fired at a U.S. aircraft, the United States targeted Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz.
Based on this report, a senior U.S. official described the attack as “defensive” and said the action does not mean a resumption of U.S. military attacks against Iran or the start of a process to escalate tensions. 📷US Army
