🔺 $34 billion in damage from production disruption; the cost of the energy crisis and closures falls on the people

▪ Iran’s Chamber of Commerce has estimated the damage from forced holidays and disruption to economic activity in 1404 (2025/26) at about $34 billion.

▪ This figure reflects the scale of the energy supply crisis and the instability of the business environment, and its consequences have been passed on from factories to jobs, the prices of goods, and households’ purchasing power.

▪ This assessment is based on available data and a survey of economic actors. According to it, last year there were 61 days of fully forced closures, and in another 190 days at least one of the factors that disrupt economic activity affected it.

▪ The Chamber’s estimate refers to the loss of about 22% of the time capacity for activity, and not a 22% reduction in GDP.
