🔻Wall Street Journal: Putin proposes holding a trilateral meeting with U.S. and China’s leaders to end the war in Ukraine

The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, citing people familiar with the negotiations, that Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, has proposed holding a trilateral meeting next month with Donald Trump, the U.S. president, and Xi Jinping, China’s leader, to negotiate an end to the four-year war in Ukraine. A war whose end, according to this proposal, would benefit Moscow.

The proposal comes at a time when it appears that Donald Trump’s relationship has first been reported to involve an agreement to purchase Russian diesel, and then, after that, he signed an executive order lifting some key sanctions against Moscow.

The Wall Street Journal, citing a former Russian intelligence officer who was briefed on the matter, wrote that Mr. Putin’s proposal was raised during a phone call on October 9 with Trump. The proposal was related to the purchase of diesel from Russia.

So far, the White House has not responded to Reuters’ request for comment on this report.
