The UK Maritime Trade Operations Organization reported an attack on an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to a warning from the organization, the commander of the tanker, which was exiting the strait, reported that an unidentified projectile struck the vessel’s left side and started a fire.
The incident was recorded on Saturday evening. Based on the same alert, the crew is safe, and the extent of damage and environmental consequences were not yet clear at the time of the report.
The attacker has not been identified, and no group has claimed responsibility.
In recent months, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has repeatedly attacked passing ships in the Strait of Hormuz. These attacks have been confirmed by IRGC officials.
Since October 1, the UK Maritime Trade Operations Organization has reported at least one attack per day in the Strait of Hormuz or the Gulf of Aden.
