🔶 Trump’s meeting with Zelensky at the White House focused on air defense for Ukraine
According to Ukrainian officials, Donald Trump, the U.S. president, and Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, have discussed this country’s air defense under Russian attack.
Zelensky said on the X social media platform that in the meeting at the White House on Tuesday, July 28, the issue of strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses against Russian missile attacks was raised. He wrote: “The president and I discussed the production licenses for Patriot interceptor missiles and other things that can help.”
In addition, the two sides discussed reviving diplomatic efforts to end the war. Zelensky said: “I thank the United States for its firm support.”
The United States sees itself as a mediator in this war, but its efforts to end the fighting have recently been pushed to the sidelines due to its own war with Iran.
Trump and Zelensky’s conversation took place behind closed doors, and according to U.S. media reports, it ended after a little more than an hour, with no subsequent press conference held following the meeting.
