Trump on Truth Social announced that the United States has reached an agreement with Denmark and Greenland that gives the United States permanent control over security and all other needs in Greenland, and addresses all of the multiple concerns of the United States. He said this agreement will cost the United States nothing.
The Prime Minister’s Office of Denmark also announced that it is expected that Greenland, Denmark and the United States will sign an agreement next week to strengthen security in the Arctic region and the North Atlantic Ocean.
Trump said: “From now on, no enemy can establish a base in Greenland, have a military presence, or carry out sensitive investments without our explicit written approval.”
Pete Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of War, also said: “We will immediately begin the process of a broad military presence in a suitable part of Greenland; there are many suitable areas for this purpose.”
