Middle East Eye reported that Turkey suspends flights of Mahan Airlines to and from this country. Turkish officials said the decision was taken after sanctions were imposed on three Turkish companies due to providing services to Mahan and as the risk of further sanctions against other companies related to this airline increased.

Middle East Eye reported on Friday, 27 Shahrivar, citing Turkish officials, that the suspension of Mahan flights would take effect from 30 Shahrivar and would cover all flights of the company between Iran and Turkey.

The U.S. Treasury Department previously sanctioned Turkish companies “S S System,” “MS Cargo,” and “Skai Phoenix” for providing services to Mahan. A Turkish official told Middle East Eye that the risk of sanctions now also threatens Turkish companies providing airport services, ground services, ticket sales, and banking services to Mahan.

Turkish officials said the decision does not mean a ban on flights by all Iranian airlines, but Ankara is also reviewing the risk of cooperation with other Iranian airlines.
