🔶 At least 16 killed in attack with a bomb-laden vehicle in Kohat, Pakistan
According to Pakistan’s police, at least 16 people have been killed and dozens of others injured following an attack with a bomb-laden vehicle in the northwestern part of the country.
DPA reports that a local police official said the attack occurred inside the compound of a police station in the city of Kohat. According to him, the vehicle carrying explosives struck a gate and detonated.
The police official added that the intensity of the blast was such that a mosque in the compound of the police station was also damaged. The attack took place during Friday prayers and raised concerns about a likely increase in the number of victims.
A doctor told DPA that more than 50 injured people had been taken to a hospital nearby.
Television footage from Pakistan’s “Geo News” network shows people fleeing the scene in terror. Bodies can be seen on the ground, and ambulances are transporting victims to nearby clinics.
So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
