🔶 Trump: A ceasefire with Iran was a waste of time

Donald Trump, the U.S. president, during a speech at a Republican election rally in the state of Mississippi, said that a ceasefire with Iran in the summer was a “waste of time.”

Trump said: «We set up a short ceasefire that I never really liked. I think it was a kind of waste of time, but, well, you’d like to listen to the words of professional experts.»

He continued: «We set up a short ceasefire to allow some ships to come in. You know, we want to be friendly, but in my view, this was just a waste of time.»

Trump again defended the United States’ war with Iran and, by repeating remarks made by one of the Republican lawmakers, claimed: «We didn’t start the war with Iran; Iran started the war with us.»
