‌🔻The world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, has been targeted by a major security attack which, according to analysts, could be the biggest cryptocurrency theft in history.

Binance has said that the incident affected assets worth more than $6 billion.

The exchange has suspended trading and reassured users that it will make up for all losses incurred.

The company said that it is likely that access to a hacked laptop enabled the attackers to withdraw users’ assets without authorization.

A cryptocurrency analytics firm has suggested that a North Korean hacking group called “Trader Triter” may be responsible for the attack.

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation previously identified this same group as being behind a cyber attack on the exchange “Bybit” last year—a raid in which approximately $1.5 billion was stolen.
