🔶 The Wall Street Journal: The Houthis asked Saudi Arabia for $51 billion in compensation to stop the attacks
The Wall Street Journal reported that the Houthis have requested $51 billion in compensation from Saudi Arabia in order to stop attacks against the country.
The report says the proposal was put forward after Saudi Arabia, following the Houthis’ takeover of the strategic city of Al-Mokha near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, contacted the group.
Based on the report, prepared citing sources involved in the negotiations, the Houthis claimed that this amount is “necessary for reconstruction” after years of attacks and a blockade. The group, which is backed by the Islamic Republic, has also demanded that Riyadh recognize them as the “official rulers of Yemen.”
