🔶 “Fake” alerts in Ukraine; Russia also reported a cyberattack
On Sunday evening, the first of November (10 Aban), warning messages appeared on the mobile phones of some people in Ukraine about radioactive radiation and a chemical attack. Ukrainian officials said these messages were incorrect and denied them.
The Ukrainian Air Force said there is no radiation threat, and that the “Air Alert” warning app was probably targeted by an intrusion.
Hours later, Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations also reported a cyberattack on its warning system. In available reports, the connection between the two incidents and the identity of those responsible have not been determined.
According to Ukrainian officials, for Kyiv and other areas, the app displayed warnings about a nuclear and chemical attack and the risk of street fighting.
