🔻Ester Rantzen, who died at the age of 86, will perhaps be remembered above all for hosting the TV program “That’s Life” on the BBC. The show ran for two decades, but one of its episodes is more memorable to viewers than the rest.
One of the most memorable moments of Ester Rantzen’s professional career took place in 1988, when she invited Nicholas Winton onto the show.
In 1939, Nicholas Winton had organized the rescue of 669 children from Czechoslovakia at a time when the country was under the occupation of Nazi forces, and Ester Rantzen heard the story of this man.
In this highly viewed video, Ester tells Mr. Winton in an unexpected move that the people sitting behind her in the audience are some of the children he had saved.
