🔻Flydubai aircraft; Al-Kurqash: The Middle East is still grappling with extremism

Anwar Al-Kurqash, senior adviser to the president of the United Arab Emirates, said the incident involving a Flydubai aircraft shows that the Middle East is still dealing with the issue of “extremism.”

In a post on the X social network, he wrote: “In such circumstances, the importance of the United Arab Emirates’ early and decisive stance becomes even clearer: no leniency should be shown against extremism and its promotion, because ensuring security begins with confronting the spread of hate speech and preventing the spread of extremism.”

Today, the UAE’s attorney general said that the first officer of a Flydubai flight intended to carry out an “act of terrorism.”

This is the first time that UAE officials have officially described the incident as “terrorist.”

Anwar Al-Kurqash had previously called the attack an “act of terrorism.”
