The Stability Front, in a statement, called for the Islamic Republic to withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), halt cooperation beyond safeguards obligations, and “reconfigure the country’s defense and military doctrine” as soon as possible.

In a portion of the statement by the group—some of whose members are also representatives in parliament—it said: “Today, with the continued existence of existential threats, open aggression against the country’s soil and facilities, and the absolute ineffectiveness of international guarantees, the supreme national interests and national security have been placed in serious jeopardy, and this is a clear example of oppressive behavior and the lack of necessity to continue cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.”

In its statement, the Stability Front has asked parliament representatives and members of the Supreme National Security Council to put the legal and executive process of the Islamic Republic’s complete withdrawal from the NPT and changes to its defense and military doctrine into motion as soon as possible.
