The interior minister of the Islamic Republic said he held constructive talks in Doha with his Qatari counterpart.
According to Tasnim News Agency, Iskandar Momeni discussed with him during this meeting the fate of three military pilots of the Islamic Republic whom Tehran claims are being kept in Qatar.
The Islamic Republic has accused Qatar of arresting these pilots after their aircraft crashed, an allegation that Doha has rejected, calling it "incorrect."
Based on this report, the two sides also discussed organized crimes, cooperation between the coast guard, security issues, and drug trafficking.
In recent months, Qatar has played the role of mediator between the United States and the Islamic Republic. Abbas Araghchi, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, last week in Doha received from the Qatari mediators the United States’ response to the government’s seven-day proposal.
