The cost of electricity consumption in Iran has increased by “three to four times”

🔸Reports from Iran indicate that the cost of electricity consumed in the current month of Tir increased by three to four times compared to the previous month, reaching about one million tomans.

🔸Iranian media have reported that households that received bills of around 300,000 tomans in Khordad are facing invoices of between 800,000 and one million tomans in Tir.

🔸In response, the electricity industry’s spokesperson said that “there has been no sudden increase in tariffs, and the hefty bills are mainly due to rs exceeding the consumption pattern.”

🔸According to Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi, “the consumption pattern” is determined based on the consumption level of 75% of rs in each region, and rs who consume less than this pattern receive subsidies and also get rewards for optimal consumption.

🔸The Iranian electricity industry spokesperson added: The consumption pattern for ordinary areas in the summer months, until the end of Shahrivar, is 300 kilowatt-hours per month, while this figure for the period of Ordibehesht was set at 200 kilowatt-hours.

🔸The increase in the cost of electricity consumption comes as the air temperature in many parts of Iran is extremely hot, and, on the other hand, due to the consequences of the war and the rise in the inflation rate, Iranian citizens have faced a sharp jump in the prices of various essential goods and services.
