🔻CBS: A deal between Iran and Oman to reopen the Strait of Hormuz may be announced in the coming days

The CBS news network, a news partner of BBC in the United States, has reported that Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on the general framework of a proposed plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and that this agreement may be announced in the coming days.

According to this report, the temporary 60-day plan would allow the resumption of navigation by commercial ships in one of the busiest waterways in the world.

Based on this report, after the initial agreement, both sides are expected to also work toward reaching a long-term deal.

An hour ago, Kazem Qaribabadi, deputy of the foreign ministry, in an interview with IRNA about charging fees from ships, said, “In the memorandum of understanding, it had been provided that within 60 days after signing, Iran would not receive any cost.” He went on to say that in the new memorandum of understanding as well, “this issue also entirely depends on the second phase and the decision of the senior officials of the system for entering the second phase and whether the strait will be opened or not.”
