🔶 Terrorist accusation against two Iranians in Britain; court postponed to late October

The UK prosecution says two Iranian men, as part of a plot to bomb, had been monitoring a synagogue in Manchester. The synagogue had been targeted in a deadly attack a year ago.

According to the prosecution, Salām Ahmadian, 36, and Reḥmān Ṣāliḥī, 34, had researched the Heaton Park Congregation synagogue in Manchester as well as the Jewish museum in the Cheetham Hill area.

The two men were arrested last month and on Friday, October 2 (10 Mehr), were charged with “preparation for terrorist acts.”

At a preliminary court hearing in Westminster, they neither pleaded guilty nor not guilty to the charges. Judge Nina Tempia ordered that the two remain in custody until the next hearing on October 23 at the Central Criminal Court in London.

Mark Lackt, the prosecutor in the case, also said that the two were being directed by a third person who is said to have been in Iran and who was coordinating the plans.

According to the prosecution, this person had also provided instructions for making a homemade chlorine bomb.
