🔶 Statement by 150 political, civil, and cultural activists in protest against ongoing crackdowns

150 political, civil, and cultural activists inside and outside the country, by issuing a statement, while condemning the continued 16-year-long house arrest of Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard, and the issuance of prison sentences for three supporters of their recent statement (Alireza Beheshti-Shirazi, Nasser Daneshfar, and Mohammad-Javad Dardkeshan), protested against the intensification of the wave of executions and internal crackdowns alongside the country’s wartime conditions.

In reference to the recent foreign attack on Iran, the statement says: “What made them covet this land and, for plunder, resort to invasion is, above all, the repressive conduct of the authorities, which responded to every demand with shackles and the lash, and in every social protest shed the blood of innocents on the ground and mourned a nation.”

The signatories of the statement, emphasizing that war and foreign aggression are the result of structural inefficiency, the weakening of national security, and the suppression of domestic protests by the ruling authorities, said that the country’s current crises stem from the contradictions of the current constitution and the deprivation of the people’s right to determine their own destiny.
