The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said the forces of this government attack, every night, five or six vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
Mohsen Rezaei, in an interview with Press TV, the English-language state network of the Islamic Republic, added, “In the past two or three months, on average we have targeted five of these smuggling vessels every night.”
According to CENTCOM’s announcement, since July 14 (Tir 23), when American forces restored the blockade of the southern ports of the Islamic Republic, they have disabled four commercial ships, returned 135 ships, and destroyed 10 tankers linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ “shadow fleet.”
CENTCOM said that on Saturday, an American fighter jet targeted a cargo ship flying the flag of Panama in the Sea of Oman after the crew ignored repeated warnings. CENTCOM added that the strike precisely disabled the ship and no one was injured.
The United States says the Strait of Hormuz is open to international shipping and that since the blockade the Islamic Republic has not exported any oil.
