The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council strongly condemned the “violent” attack by the Islamic Republic on two oil tankers belonging to the UAE company “ADNOC” in the Strait of Hormuz.

Jassim Badiwi, in a statement, emphasized: “The repeated targeting of ships and non-military facilities has unacceptablely escalated tensions and constitutes a serious violation of international law.”

Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also, in a statement, condemned the targeting of two UAE ships as they passed through the Strait of Hormuz, without naming the Islamic Republic.

Egypt said the attack is a threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation and the freedom of passage of ships in one of the most important international waterways.

Egypt, while announcing support for the UAE, stressed the need to stop all actions that threaten the security and safety of shipping or expose ships and non-military facilities to danger.
